Pyoderma is a common skin problem often caused by bacterial infection. It is typically accompanied by pustules on the skin – small, red bumps filled with white pus. Other symptoms include dry, flaky skin, itchiness, and hair loss. Warm, moist areas of skin, such as face or neck folds and armpits, may be at higher risk for skin-fold pyoderma.
Yeast dermatitis is very common in dogs and is caused by an overgrowth of yeast that is normally present on the animal's skin. Signs and symptoms include itching, redness, a musty odor, flaky or scaly skin, changes in skin texture, and hair loss.
