Flourite® Black is a specially fractured, stable porous clay gravel for the planted natural aquarium. Its appearance is better suited for planted aquariums, but it can be used in any freshwater aquarium environment. Flourite® Black is most effective when used alone as an integral substrate, but it can be mixed with other gravels. Gravel modifiers like laterite are not necessary. Flourite® Black is neither coated nor chemically treated and does not alter the pH of the water. Flourite® Black is good for aquarium life and does not need to be replaced.

Installation
Although pre-washed, since Flourite® Black is a natural product, it may become dusty in transit and require rinsing before use to remove any residual dust.

When adding water to the aquarium, fill slowly to avoid disturbing the Flourite® Black substrate. Place a bowl in the aquarium and add water directly into the bowl, allowing the water to gently overflow onto the gravel bed. Initial cloudiness is normal. To remove cloudiness, use mechanical filtration (such as filter floss). Use Clarity™ to speed up cleaning.
