High PO4 levels can cause rapid undesirable algae growth and inhibit calcification by corals and coralline algae in saltwater aquariums. Like all Nubios impregnated media, this long-lasting multi-fiber material is up to twice as thick and is much stiffer than competing media, allowing it to fit better, hold its shape longer, filter more efficiently, and last longer.
